The Mumembe Game Ranch and its History

After leaving South Africa in 1992 to pursue farming opportunities in Zambia, Peter Michael and Lizelle Goetsch uprooted their lives and trans located to the farming community of Mkushi located in the central province of Zambia. It is here where Peter Michael’s passion to rehabilitate the parcels of land cleared for cultivation and protect the remaining untouched wilderness developed.

Today the ranch covers a sprawling 3000 hectares (7400 acres) composed of natural Zambian woodland, open grassland and dambos (A dambo is a class of shallow wetlands). This ecosystem now harbors a magnitude of indigenous species that were once almost entirely wiped out to make room of agricultural activities. Through sustainable utilization Peter Michael is able to continue to protect, maintain and naturally develop the area.

In 2015 the tented camp was established giving clients the opportunity to experience the Zambian wilderness while enjoying comfortable beds, cold beer, good food and hot showers. The tented camp also gives hunters the ability to begin their stalk right from the boma as it is strategically located between the various ecosystems. (A boma is a structure crafted from African hardwood poles and finished with a genuine thatched roof).
